Son of Muhammad Rasul, Haji Obaidullah Barakzai, is born in 1959 in Chore District of Urozgan Province. His mother language is Pashto but he speaks Dari, English, and Arabic. Barikzai completed his primary and secondary education in Chore District and graduated with 12th class. Barikzai was a jihadi commander during the war years. After 2001, he became a military commander in Kandahar. He worked as district governor of Khasa Urozgan District in Urozgan Province in 2006. Barikzai has been a tribal elder and worked as head of the Department of Tribes and Borders in Urozgan province from 2007 to 2010 then he preferred to run for parliament. Barikzai is a member of Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan, a party he joined in 1982.

Raihana Azad is the daughter of Ishaq, and is born in 1982 in Zardini District, Daikundi Province. Her mother language is Dari but she speaks English and Pashto. Azad completed her secondary education at Alama Shaheed Balkhi High School in Sharistan District of Daikundi Province in 2005. She is currently a student of Political Science and International Relations at Kateb University in Kabul. Azad worked at the Cooperation Center for Afghanistan (CCA) as a supervisor in the Women’s Department in 2002 for one year, and at the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) as an educator in Shahristan District, Daikundi in 2004. From 2005 to 2009, Azad served in the Daikundi Provincial Council as the Council’s Deputy. She was also a supervisor of the Auditing and Monitoring Committee to investigate women’s complaints and cases in the Provincial Council. At the same time, she worked at the Afooq Organization as an advisor in the Women’s Capacity Building and International Affairs departments. Azad is affiliated with Hezb-e-Ensejam Milli, a party she joined in 2007. She also representated Daikundi Province in the 2010 Peace Jirga. 283

Muhammad Hashim Watanwal is born in 1952 in Urozgan Province. Watanwal earned his bachelor degree in Science from Kabul University. During the Communist regime, Watanwal was the Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs and also held the position of General Director of Administrative Affairs in the Interior Affairs Ministry. During the Taliban regime, he traveled overseas. Watanwal was elected to parliament in 2005. He was assassinated by insurgents on July 17, 2011 in Kabul while visiting the home of a senior advisor to President Karzai.
