211- Alhaj Makhdum Muhebullah Furqani

Son of late MP Mawlavi Noor Mohammadi Khan, Alhaj Makhdum Muhebullah Furqani is born in 1954 in Dara-e Suf District, Samangan Province. His mother language is Dari but he speaks Pashto and Arabic as well. Furqani completed his private Islamic studies in Mazar-i Sharif and Samangan in 1978, and later earned his 14th class certificate from an Islamic Madrasa in 2005. Furqani is a former jihadi commander. For more than 25 years, he served with the Mujahideen, during both the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan as well as during the Taliban period. He also served as the district governor of Dara-e Suf from 2002 to 2005 and again from 2007 to 2010. Furqani has previous connections to Hezb-e-Jamiat Islami Afghanistan but is currently an independent member of parliament.

Makhdum Abdullah Muhammadi is the son of Mawlawi Muhammad Islam, and is born in 1977 in the Rui Du Aab District of Samangan Province. His mother language is Dari but he also speaks Pashto. Muhammadi completed his studies in Islamic Religious Studies in Afghanistan and earned his 14th class certificate from the Rahat Abad Madrasa in Pakistan in 2003. Currently, he is a third year student of Islamic Sharia at Salam Private University in Kabul. Muhammadi is a tribal elder in Samangan. He worked with the Presidential Protocol Department in Kabul from 2008 until 2010, when he had to run for parliament.

213- Alhaj Ahmad Khan Samangani (Deceased)

Alhaj Ahmad Khan Samangani is born in 1961 in Aybak city. His mother language is Uzbek but he speaks Dari and Pashto. Samangani completed his private Islamic studies in Samangan in 1974. Samangani is a former Mujahid commander, and the principal commander in Samangan Province. He was aligned with Hezb-e-Jamiat Islami Afghanistan before forming an alliance with General Abdul Rashid Dostum to join his Hezb-e-Junbish Milli Islami Afghanistan. He served as the Deputy Governor of Samangan from 1995 to 1997. Samangani was elected to Parliament in 2005. Samangani is known to have connections with Hezb-e-Junbish Milli Islami. Ahmad Khan Samangani was among 20 people killed in the suicide attack on his daughter’s wedding party in Aibak, Samangan’s capital on July 14, 2012.

Dr. Masoma Khawri is the daughter of Juma Khan, and is born in 1985 in Iran. Her family is originally from the Dara-e Suf Bala District in Samangan Province. Her mother language is Dari but she speaks Pashto, English, and Turkish. Khawri completed her primary education in 1992 and her secondary education in 2000 in Iran. She then enrolled in a professional school, where she studied art and graduated in 2002. She earned a bachelor degree in Chemistry from Ankara University in Turkey in 2009. Khawri has worked in various Turkish hospitals, including the Ibn-e-Sina hospital and the Medical University of Ankara. She returned to Afghanistan in 2009.
