KABUL (Pajhwok): Hezb-i-Jamaat-i-Islami Afghanistan leader Atta Mohammad Noor has asked the Stability and Partnership team to adhere to its manifesto avoid creating a political crisis
On Tuesday, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced final results from the September 2019 polls. President Ashraf Ghani was declared the winner, with 50.64 percent of votes.
Soon after the announcement of the election outcome, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah vowed to establish a parallel and inclusive government.
“As everyone knows that the Afghans went to the polls despite challenges and threats, so they reserve the right to know the results,” Noor said in a statement.
“We hope the political and security situation will improve under the new government. The nation is waiting for peace with Taliban and hope that with consensus, we will achieve peace and stability,” he added.
Noor emphasized that instability and crisis was not in the interest of the nation. He called on the Stability and Partnership team, led by Abdullah, to work for peace and prosperity.
Nor said there were winners and losers in every election but national unity was needed more than ever in the current situation in Afghanistan.
