KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Thursday said election teams had registered 1,560 objections against the body’s decisions ahead of the official closing time (today).
IECC Commissioner Syed Qutab Roydar told Pajhwok Afghan News that 1,562 objection appeals had been registered by election teams against the decision of provincial IECC offices.
Mohammad Raza Fayaz, IECC deputy spokesperson, said the deadline for registration of re-appeals was ending today and apart from some cases, the final decision of which would be announced later.
He said polling stations, which needed recount, would be sent to the Independent Election Commission till the end of the day.
It is worth mentioning that the IECC is bound to address cases related to re-appeal within 15 days in line with the document and evidence and announce its final decision.
In line with the provincial IECC offices, the votes of 109 have been invalidated, 71 IEC employees dismissed from their jobs, 75 fined and votes of 5,316 votes in 21 provinces would be recounted and audited.
