KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday said that six biometric sets and SD cards have been missing and some IEC employees are being introduced to judicial organs in this regard.
The IEC said two million and 695 thousands vote were cast in the presidential election on September 28 while 9.6 million individuals have been registered for the election across the country.
IEC deputy director Maulana Mohammad Abdullah told a press conference here that provincial IEC officials had been asked to report the main office any powerful individual bullying or illegal activities and non-biometric votes. He once again stressed that only biometric votes would be counted.
He said if they received complaints about a polling station where non-biometric votes had been cast, the matter would either go to the Independent Election Complaints Commission IECC or judicial organs.
He added all sensitive materials from provinces would reach Kabul by the end of today, adding that six to seven biometric devices had gone missing in Kabul and another 22 SD cards pulled out in Kabul.
A number of presidential candidates have termed the September 28 election as full of rigging in favor of a specific candidate.
