KABUL (Pajhwok): The electoral bodies on Sunday announced their full readiness to hold the September 28 presidential election, asking political parties, election observers and candidates to cooperate in conducting the ballot transparently.
The announcement  was made by leadership members of the election commissions during a press conference here. They said challenges facing the major national process had been identified and efforts were on to solve them.
Hawa Alam Nuristani, chief of the Independent Election Commission (IEC), told the presser that all election activities were managed in coordination with the election commissions for transparent and just polls.
The leadership of election commissions had been able to prepare its operational plan, recruitments, procedures and relevant regulations, she said.
On the other hand, Zahra Bayan Shinwari, chief of the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC), said they wanted to assure all parties, candidates and people that the election commissions were serious in holding the poll and they proceeded their activities in coordination.
A joint statement released by the two commissions said that holding election based on the law was one of the values nationally accepted and it was an achievement of Afghanistan and its international allies during the last two decades.
Other part of the statement reads that holding the upcoming presidential election successfully was responsibility of the IEC and IECC and other stakeholders.
It said international institutes, relevant government organs, civil society, political parties, media and candidates had to play high role in the election process and their cooperation was essential for better results of the democratic exercise.
