KABUL (Pajhwok): The Council of Presidential Election Candidates on Monday warned Independent Election Commission members of consequences if they performed duty against the law.
The council, which is comprised of 12 presidential candidates, in a statement demanded the IEC fully implement the election law, if not, the presidential candidates would strip them of their authorities.
The statement also said leaders of the unity government had registered as candidates in January 2019, therefore, all appointments they had since were illegal and termed these appointments as a strategy to engineer the upcoming polls in their interest.
They warned if the president did not honor candidates decisions, they would boycott the upcoming polls as their last option.
Presidential elections are scheduled to take place on September 28 this year.
