KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan’s Salvation and Stability Council (ASSC) on Sunday declared it would support to a peace process that end the ongoing fighting and ensure justice in the country.
Masoud Tarashwal, ASSC spokesman, told reporters here only people of Afghanistan should have the authority to make peace and the government should be a party to sign the final peace deal.
He asked the government leadership to stop speaking from multiple addresses and urged united voices for peace as it would strengthen the government side.
He said all Afghans should get united and demand peace and stability in one voice for their motherland.
He said the ASSC supported peace talks which could end the bloodshed and ensure justice. He made it clear that peace should not be accepted if it compromised human rights.
He added the Constitution was amendable but any such arrangement should take place under the prescribed method.
Tarashwal said the current government came into being under an agreement and its leadership should avoid blame game.
He stressed implementation of reforms in the election bodies and overhaul of the commissions’ entire structures.
He said elections were the only way for a peaceful transfer of power and reforms could restore people’s trust in the democratic exercise.
