KABUL (Pajhwok): Protesting Kochi Wolesi Jirga candidates on Saturday rejected the result of their constituency and alleged that 70 percent votes of Kochi constituency were rigged and fraudulent.
Addressing reporters here, around 28 Kochi candidates and their supporters rejected the result announced by the Independent Election Commission (IEC) on January 14.
Zulfiqar Stanikzai, one of the protesting candidates, said 30 candidates were part of this campaign to seek justice for the transparent votes of the Kochi.
Stankizai alleged that a mafia group inside the IEC stuffed ballot boxes for specific candidates and entered these votes to the system.
He said of the total 1,515 polling booths, votes casted in the 604 polling booths in which fraudulent votes casted in the 199 polling booths.
“On day one, we said 18,000 to 20,000 fair votes casted in the Kochi constituency but in the system 66,470 votes had been entered out of which 46,000 votes are fraud,” he said.
Syed Mohammad Haref, another protesting candidate also alleged massive rigging and fraud in the election especially in the Kochi constituency.
He warned of widespread protest if their complaint not addressed and transparent and fraud votes are not separated.
According to the IEC announcement, Shah Wazir Tarakhel (21,738 votes), Habiburrahman Afghan (5,148 votes), Mirwais Hussainkhel (4,671 votes), Nangyal Lawang (4,147 votes), Haji Parviz Arabzada (3,629 votes), Alhaj Haidar Jan Naeemzai (2,370 votes), Rasoul Khan Kochai (2853 votes), Hameed Ahmadzai (1940 votes), Maryam Sulaimankhel (839 votes) and Farzana Kochai (798) votes are the leading candidates from the Kochi constituency which is the entire country.
