MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The newly-appointed governor for northern Sar-i-Pul province on Saturday pledged to improve the law and order situation with the support of people and central government.
During a ceremony held in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, Mohammad Zahir Wahdat said he was fully aware of security situation and other issues existed in Sar-i-Pul and was mentally and physically prepared to handle the prevailing situation there.
According to Wahdat, the role of central government and people was vital for the development and prosperity of the provinces. He would try to reduce the existing gap between the government and people of Sar-i-Pul, he said.
Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor dubbed Wahdat as honest man and his close ally of Jihad period. He assured the new governor of full support in every sphere of government.
Wahdat had served as deputy governor in Balkh before his new appointment.
