د فارياب ګرزيوان ولسوالۍ سقوط وکړ

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Taliban militants captured the Gorzaiwan district of northern Faryab province on Thursday afternoon, a public representative said.
Sayed Abdul Baqi Hashemi, the provincial council head, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Sarchakan, the district center, fell to Taliban at around 5:00pm.
Gorzaiwan, which is 100 kilometres from Maimana, the provincial capital, borders Sar-i-Pul, Ghor and Jawzjan provinces.
Sibghatullah Selab, a member of the provincial council and resident of the district, said security and local forces had retreated from the district centre.
He said people would bear the brunt of the situation if the government did not take steps to re-take the district.
Abdul Satar Barez, Faryab’s acting governor, had earlier warned against the possible fall of the district centre.
He had said the Taliban have already seized Kikawoos, Qazaq, Farish, Shash Qara, Ghal Namak and Joz dara localities and were advancing.
