نقش نيروهاى مردمى در امنيت بدخشان موثر است

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The chief of army staff on Sunday announced raising a1000-strong local force and deploying two commando units in the northeastern province of Badakhshan.
During his visit to Badakhshan, Lt. Gen. Qadam Shah Shaheem said they would control and clear all insecure areas of the province. Warduj district would be retaken soon, he promised.
Baharak and Warduj districts were captured by Taliban insurgents. But two days ago, the Afghan security personal wrested back control of Baharak district, with Warduj still held by the rebels.
The army chief said they would hire 1,000-member local force under the command of the police headquarters. The force will be armed by the police and its salaries paid by the National Directorate of Security (NDS.
Each member of the forces would be given 10,000 afghanis in monthly salary and another 4,000 afs in food expenses, the army chief said, pledging restoration of security in the provinces.
Provincial Council Chairman Abdullah Naji Nazari hoped the proposed force would help the security personnel to recapture lost territory. Baharak and Warduj had fallen due to lack of weapons and coordination among the security personnel, he claimed.
Shaheem said two units of the Afghanistan National Army (ANA) commandos would be stationed in Baharak district and Faizabad, the provincial capital. Two helicopters would be provided for the units.
