Nuristan acting custom chief held on corruption charges

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Custom acting chief of eastern Nuristan province is arrested on corruption charges and his case is referred to Attorney General Office (AGO), an official has said on Sunday.
 Nuristan acting governor Hafez Abdul Qayyum told Pajhwok Afghan News the acting custom revenue director Mohammad Ayub demanded bribe in construction of police station.
“The director custom revenue is on sick leave and has gone abroad for treatment while acting director Mohammad Ayub has been detained red-handed with 100,000 Afghanis which he has taken as a bribe,” he added.
The official was in police custody and a case had been registered against him, the governor said, adding that stern action had been taken to curb corruption and six cases had been referred to AGO during this year.
Brig. Gen. Khalilullah Ziaee, police chief, confirmed the arrest of the official and said that he was being investigated.
