MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): The provincial council in central Kapisa province on Saturday claimed settling a number of complicated tribal feuds and achieving progress in other areas.
Hussein Sanjani, head of provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News the council managed to resolve many personal and family disputes in several localities of the province.
Some tribes and families, including former Jihadi commanders, had differences for years, he said, adding those family feuds led to death of tens of people and gave rise to illegal armed men.
He added the only delay in their work was when all provincial councils went on strike for around 40 days, asking for oversight right on local departments.
Sanjani said they had good coordination with security officials and have bridged the gap between residents and security forces. “The residents don’t get services on time from some departments. We try to resolve those issues.”
He said they were strictly monitoring the reconstruction projects in the province. In two streaming projects, directing water from Panjshir River to Kapisa, he added, the companies had differences and the work could not go as planned. “But after the intervention by provincial council, the differences were resolved and now their work is ongoing smoothly,” he added.
Haji Azizullah Sapai, provincial council member, said no major work has been done in reconstruction sector.
He added there was no major project for them to monitor. Sapai said majority of the residents were satisfied with the work of the council.
Abdul Saboor, a resident of Kohdaman, expressed satisfaction with the provincial council members.
The council’s major achievement was that they have ended animosities among some tribes, he added.
