Badghis district falls to Taliban

QALA-E-NAW (Pajhwok): Heavily-armed Taliban mounted attack on the Jawand district in western Badghis province and secured control of the district centre late Saturday night, an official said.
Bahauddin, head of provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News security forces were pushed back to mountainous areas of the district in the initial firefight. He feared the security forces needed immediate reinforcements otherwise they were facing with dangerous situation.
Fareed Ahmed, another provincial council member, confirmed the incident. However, provincial officials had not commented on the incident.
Soon after the incident, Taliban claimed controlling the district and added that insurgents were out to apprehend the town's chief and police chief.
Neither side commented on casualties in the fight.
