Pakistani politicians meet President Ghani

KABUL (Pajhwok): A number of Pakistani politicians associated with various political parties on Saturday met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Islamabad and discussed with him the potential of cooperation between the two countries in different sectors.

The political leaders emphasised the need for greater people-to-people contacts and delegation level exchanges between the two countries to give impetus to bilateral relations.

Those called on the Afghan president included Awami National Party (ANP) central leader Asfandyar Wali Khan, Qaumi Qatan Party leader Aftab Ahmad Sherpao, national leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Pakistan People’s Party leaders Sherry Rehman, Itizaz Ihasan, Farhatullah Babar and Faisal Kareem Kundi.

Ghani expressed keen desire of the government and the people of Afghanistan to further strengthen bilateral relations with the people and government of Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest.

Earlier, the visiting Afghan leader held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain on Friday night.

Maulana Fazl Rahman, the leader of his own faction of Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam JUI-F (Fazl) also called on President Ahmadzai.
