Daikundi officials concern over ballot papers shortage

NELI (Pajhwok): Officials of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in central Daikundi province on Monday expressed concerns about shortage of ballot papers for the runoff election.
IEC Director Qasim Qaseem told Pajhwok Afghan News preparations had been finalized for the June 14 runoff vote but their main concern was lack of ballot papers.
People should come out of their homes and throng to the polling stations to achieve a big turnout during the second round, he noted.
Meanwhile, the IEC said that 15 million ballot papers had been printed for the presidential runoff election and the people would not face its shortage.
Police Chief Brig. Gen. Juma Khan Hamdard said only three polling sites were under security threats in Daikundi. He expressed optimism that security forces would adopt stringent plan to ensure security on Election Day.
He said that 174 women would discharge their duties during the June 14 ballot.
