KABUL (Pajhwok): A number of protesters in capital Kabul demanded invalidation, halt to the recount of Kabul votes and trial of commissioners and those who committed rigging in the court.
They also warned wide-spread protests if their demand was ignored. The Wolesi Jirgaelections were conducted on October 20-21 in almost all provinces of the country with huge allegations of rigging.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Sentenced to five years in jail, a successful Wolesi Jirga candidate from southeastern Paktika province has been arrested in northern Balkh province while attempting to escape to Uzbekistan.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Ousted commissioners of the two electoral bodies have slammed changes to the electoral law and their dismissal as illegal and politically-motivated decision.
In a statement the removed commissioners hit out at President Ghani’s decision on the amendments and removal of the election commissioners.
Under Article 109 of the constitution, proposals for amending the election law shall not be included in the agenda of the last year of the legislative term.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Over a hundred supporters of unsuccessful candidates staged a rally at the Pashtunistan Watt in downtown Kabul, blocking traffic for about six hours before they were dispersed by spraying water.
The protestors were demanding invalidation of all Kabul votes and conducting re-elections. They further warned to close entry points to Kabul if their demands were not addressed.

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Independent Election Commission (IEC)’s deputy head for southern Kandahar province Haroon Kaliwal claims he was beaten and filmed naked at gun-point by two unsuccessful Wolesi Jirga candidates.
But the accused candidates alleged Kaliwal and other election officials were involved in widespread rigging and the video clip was ‘a plot’ against them to show themselves clean and innocent.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) head for northeastern Badakhshan province on Wednesday accused the commission’s central office in Kabul of being behind ‘doctored’ results from the Wolesi Jirga elections.

 

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Protesting Wolesi Jirga candidates on Wednesday closed the Kabul-North highway in northern Baghlan province for an hour and set the election commission a 12-hour deadline to address their demands.

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) head for southern Kandahar province has been sacked and introduced to the attorney’s office over alleged electoral offenses.

KABUL (Pajhwok): A number of Wolesi Jirga candidates rallied in capital Kabul on Saturday to press for trial of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) leadership and invalidation of all votes cast in the central province during the parliamentary polls.

KABUL (Pajhwok): About 15 unsuccessful Wolesi Jirga candidates and hundreds of their supporters on Tuesday closed four gates to Kabul, seeking invalidation of votes cast during the parliamentary polls in the capital.
The candidates, along with their 350 supporters, blocked the road with containers in Qala-i-Mirdad area of Shakar Dara district north of the capital city, urging the dismissal of corrupt election officials.
