KABUL (Pajhwok): Some Wolesi Jirga candidates say social media is the best tool to campaign while others complain the platform is being used to disgrace competitors.
Mostly young candidates in the Oct 20 parliamentary polls are using Facebook, WhatsApp, twitter, instagram, telegram, imo and other social media applications to woo voters.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Eight civilians, including a Wolesi Jirga candidate, were killed and another 12 wounded when a suicide bombing ripped through an election campaign rally in the capital of southern Helmand province on Tuesday afternoon, an official said.
A security official, wishing anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the explosion happened in limits of 1st police district in Lashkargah City, the provincial capital at 2:30pm.

KABUL (Pajhwok): As the parliamentary elections come closer, the private printing industry is in full swing, earning a high amount of money by printing campaign materials for the hopefuls who overlook the state-owned printing press.

 

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 14 people were killed and another more than 40 wounded in a suicide attack targeting a Wolesi Jirga hopeful’s campaign office in Kama district of eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place in Sangarsai area of the district at around 1:30pm.

NILI (Pajhwok): Speaking to thousands of his supporters in central Daikundi province, presidential runner Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Wednesday pledged that he would launch multidimensional development projects and encourage female education if he won the June 14 presidential race.
Speaking to a mammoth gathering in Nili, the provincial capital of Daikundi, Ahmadzai said he would introduce Jafari jurisprudence in country’s Sharia universities if he won the ballot.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Amid predicted fears of an upsurge in Taliban violence and voting along ethnic lines, the Afghans will decide which of two presidential candidates will be their next president on June 14.
In the first round on April 5, Abdullah won 45 percent of the vote, Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai 32 percent, and the other candidates were a long way behind. Because no one got 50 per cent of the vote, a run-off was called.
Abdullah and Ghani have held out countless promises to the masses, who seem tired of the long-drawn out electoral process.

 
FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): Presidential runner Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday pledged to construct Kabul-Herat highway if won the runoff vote. The highway would help bolster tourism in the country.
Addressing a gathering in Lalwa Sar Jangal district of western Ghor province, Abdullah said the construction of the highway was not only the demand of the people of central zone but he would bolster economy of the country.

 
KABUL (Pajhwok): A 21-day election campaign for Saturday’s presidential runoff election ends at midnight, 48 hours before voting day, an official said on Wednesday.
The election law says electioneering must end 48 hours before Election Day. The second round of presidential election pits Abdullah Abdullah against Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
During the canvassing period that will come to an end at 12am last night, the two contenders traveled to various provinces to convince people into voting for them in the decisive round.

 
KABUL (Pajhwok): Hidayat Amin Arsala, a former advisor to President Hamid Karzai and Mullah Tarakhel, a parliamentarian, on Monday joined forces with presidential runner Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai while Ahmad Wali, founder of Massoud Foundation, swung behind his rival Dr. Abdullah in the runoff election.
Arsala had contested the previous round of presidential election held on April 5 but trailed behind all the eight candidates.

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai’s older brother Qayyum Karzai announced his support to presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Sunday, when members of the Shiite community also joined the Change and Continuity team.
Qayyum Karzai had dropped out of the April 5 presidential election in favour of Zalmai Rassoul, another flopped contender, who finished third behind Ghani.
