KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Monday denied rumors that State Builder team’s supporters broke the lock of its digital data center facility in cooperation with security and electoral officials and relegated the false claims as “a plot and propaganda” against the commission.

 

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Transparent Election Foundation of Afghanistan (TEFA) on Sunday said political pressure and poor management was behind the delay in announcing primary presidential election result, asking the election commissions to provide documented reasons for the delay.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan chief and presidential candidate Gulbuddin Hekmatyar on Sunday said the September 28 presidential poll produced to clear winner and the ballot would go to a second round.
Addressing a press conference here, Hekmatyar demanded the creation of an interim government to hold the second round of election.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Two election observers were killed, 20 injured and 26 arrested and released while tens of others were beaten and threatened during the September 28 presidential election, Pajhwok Afghan News has learned.

 

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): More votes have been cast in insecure districts of southeastern Paktia province than in relatively peaceful areas during last month’s presidential election,creating doubts in some people’s minds also producing reassuring comments from others about the province’s participation.

 

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Eight election workers who were kidnapped on September 28 are still in Taliban captivity in the Shinwari district of central Parwan province.
The Independent Election Commission (IEC) workers were abducted by Taliban in the Namak Aab area of the district on election day evening.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Wednesday said it would announce preliminary result of the presidential election a week later than originally scheduled citing some technical problems.
The presidential election was held on September 28 and the primary results were scheduled for October 19 and final result on November 7.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Wednesday said it has completed addressing complaints at its provincial offices, invalidating votes from 77 polling booths.
In September 28 presidential election, 4,905 polling stations were set up and each station contained several voting booths. Up to 400 people could vote in each booth.

KABUL (Pajhwok): US Acting Assistance Secretary for South and Central Affairs Alice Wells has supported the Afghan election bodies for their efforts to independently lead a credible electoral process.
Wells tweeted: “During my meeting with IEC and IECC officials, I expressed continued US support for their efforts to independently lead a credible electoral process.”

KABUL (Pajhwok): The US has supported the decision of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) on counting only biometric votes.
US Ambassador John Bass, who visited the IEC head office, tweeted: “Impressed with the hard work of the national tally centre to honor the sacrifices and votes of the Afghan people.
