کرزى: واکنش نامزدان نمایانگر تقویت مردم سالاری است

KABUL (Pajhwok): Former president Hamid Karzai on Wednesday termed the election process as not national and against values of democracy, a fact he said the low turnout manifested.
“I have earlier told our people that if suitable conditions for election are not provided, the ballot process would result into further crisis and divide. This will further weaken our country and hamper the peace process,” Karzai said in a statement from his office.
Karzai stressed that all political forces in the country should get united for making the peace process a success and consider this national obligation.
“The election process which is imposed on our people has not been totally national, against all democratic values manifested by the low turnout of the masses.”
The former president said the electoral process further exposed interferences of foreigners in Afghanistan who wanted implementation of their nefarious designs by dividing the people of Afghanistan.
He believed it had been perceived that the result of presidential election would not be accepted by political parties.
Soon after the announcement of the final results of the presidential vote, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah vowed to establish a parallel and inclusive government.
Late on Tuesday, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced President Ashraf Ghani had won the September 2019 election with 50.64 percent of vote, followed by Abdullah.
At a news conference here, the CEO claimed winning the ballot and called on his supporters to rise against what he called bogus votes. “Fraudsters are rogues; we will establish an inclusive and representative government.”
According to the poll outcome, he bagged 39.52 percent of vote (720,841). But the CEO insisted his team was the victor and thus reserved the right to form the next government.
"The result announced today was a result of election robbery, a coup against democracy and a betrayal of people’s will," insisted Abdullah, who had leveled allegation of industrial-scale fraud in the 2014 vote.
