KABUL (Pajhwok): Following registration of 7,720 complaints his rival election ticket, the Stability and Partnership team, the State Builder team also registered over 3,700 complaints and claimed the stealing of 18,000 votes.
Amrullah Saleh, vice presidential nominee of the State Builder team, told reporters here that the State Builder team had registered 3,761 complaints with the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) and handed over necessary documents to the body.
He claimed over 18,000 votes of the State Builder team had been missing and removed from the count process.
He claimed if their complaints were addressed, their vote percentage could surge to 55 percent.
He claimed around 9,000 votes of the people of Nangarhar cast in over 100 polling centres existed in provincial devices but had not been transferred to the centre and not counted as well.
He said the State Builder team was the winner and the rival team was playing with future of the masses in social media for its own fame and popularity.
“We heard the Stability and Partnership team used abusive language for the president which shows they knew they will get nothing. The Stability and Partnership team is confused.”
He said: “Some candidates never believed in elections and demanded the establishment of interim government which it was an enemy agenda aimed at marginalizing the constitution and enforcing their own agenda.”
The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Sunday announced preliminary result of September 28 poll, saying Ashraf Ghani has won the ballot by bagging 50.64 per cent of the votes.
Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullah Abdullah stood second with 39.52 per cent, the commission said while unveiling the long-delayed preliminary results.
About a million of the initial 2.7 million votes were thrown out due to anomalies, representing the lowest turnout in any election in the country.
On the completion of a vote recount and audit in all process, IEC Chairperson HawaAlamNuristani told a press conference here the number of the biometrically verified votes in the September ballots cast in the election.
Soon after the announcement of poll result, election teams criticised the result and vowed to register their complaints.
