KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Sunday said protesting candidates had three days to register their complaints about the presidential election initial results.
Zuhra Bayan Shinwari, IECC head, told a press conference here that the three-day electoral complaint registration process would begin tomorrow.
She urged all presidential candidates to share all types of evidences and complaints about the presidential election preliminary results with the commission.
She said, “The protesting candidates are given three days to register their complaints in this regard.”
Maulvi Din Mohammad Azimi, IECC deputy director, said that the IECC was an impartial commission: “We will recount and audit some polling stations with complete independence and it does not mean that all final decisions would be taken by the IEC.”
He termed biometrical votes as their red line and promised to recount and audit some polling stations with complete authority.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Qasim Ilyasi, a commissioner and secretary of IECC, called on electoral teams and citizens to avoid prejudice and be patient.
He said the results from the presidential election were initial and candidates views would be incorporated while addressing their complaints.
Earlier today, the IEC said President Ashraf Ghani has won the September 28 ballot by bagging 50.64 per cent of the votes.
On completion of a vote recount and audit process, IEC Chairperson HawaA lamNuristani told a press conference here the number of the biometrically verified votes was 1824,404.
GulbadinHekmatyar secured 3.85 percent of votes, Rahmatullah Nabil 1.86 percent, FaramarzTamanna 0.99 percent, Syed NoorullahJalili 0.85 percent and Abdul LatifPedram 0.69 percent.
Enayatullah Hafiz won 0.62 percent of the ballots, Mohammad Hakim Torsan 0.36 percent, Ahmad WaliMassoud 0.22 percent, Mohammad ShahabHakimi 0.18 percent, GhulamFarooqNajrabi 0.09 percent, HanifAtmar 0.09 percent and Noor RahmanLiwal 0.05 percent.
