KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidential candidate Syed Noorullah Jalili on Sunday kicked off his election campaign, vowing to end monopoly over power if succeeded in the next month’s polls.
Presidential elections campaigns began across the country on Sunday and will continue for two months, according to the IECC.
Eighteen candidates, including President Ashraf Ghani and his Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, are in the run for September 28 ballot.
The Security and Justice Team led by Jalili held its first election campaign gathering in Kabul at the Loya Jirga tent, in which around 2,500 people took part.
Addressing his supports, Jalili said: “We will extricate the power from monopolists, dual nationality holders and transfer it to “the real sons of this land.”
He said if he succeeded in polls he would implement justice nation-wide and eliminate biasness.
He criticised extravagant salaries at Presidential Palace and other places and said: “I emerged from the heart of the society and know how an ordinary teacher spends his life on 7,000 afs salary while the son of a leader and minister travels in highly expensive vehicles, is it justice?. If I succeed I will raise the salary of a teacher from 7,000 to 70,000 afghanis.”
Regarding peace and reconciliation, the president hopeful vowed to implement peace in the country at any cost.
“Going to the past means eradication of society and no member of society would want to go back. The people of Afghanistan with their best election can choose a bright future for themselves.”
Jalili said most of politicians who remained in power during the past 18 years did not serve the masses honestly.
“We are gathered here to share our pain and say the truth. We are not here to showcase our dresses, send bad messages to our rivals,” said Jalili.
