اعضاى مشرانوجرگه: نبايد بيشتر از اين کابل بدون شاروال باشد

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some members of the Meshrano Jirga or Senate on Sunday asked the government to urgently appoint a new mayor of Kabul City.
Former mayor Mohammad Younus Nawandesh had resigned last year and his deputy, who had been heading the municipality as acting mayor, was dismissed two weeks ago.
“There is no responsible person to respond to problems of Kabul residents since the acting mayor was fired two weeks ago,” Senator Farhad Sakhi told Sunday’s session of the upper house
He asked the government to appoint a person especially a resident of Kabul as mayor, saying the capital city should not remain without a mayor.
Another senator from Kabul, Nisar Haris, said “Kabul people are not illiterate to be served by people from outside, so a Kabul citizen should be appointed as mayor.”
He also criticised the government for long running the municipality by acting mayor and not introducing a suitable person for the post. He warned if non-Kabul resident was appointed as mayor, the people of the capital would stage protests.
Senate chairman Fazl Hadi Muslimyar also asked the government to hire a resident of Kabul for filling the mayoral post.
Without elaborating, he said three experienced and professional persons had been proposed to the Presidential Palace to pick one of them as Kabul mayor and the recruitment process of one of them was ongoing.
