اعضای ولسی جرگه از آغاز دور تازۀ گفتگوهای صلح استقبال کردند

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament members on Monday welcomed a quadrilateral meeting in Islamabad aimed at reviving the stalled peace talks.
Lawmaker Lalai Hamidzai from southern Kandahar province said a strong determination for peace had developed in the country, something not found in the previous government.
He said peace talks had taken place with Pakistan in the past as well, but now the US and China could put pressure on Pakistan to use its influence over Taliban and bring them to the negotiating table and prevent them violence.
“The division in the Taliban leadership council and the involvement of US and China in the peace talks is good news for the Afghans to reach peace,” he said.
Public representative from central Uruzgan province Rehana Azad said the Afghan government should prepare an agenda for peace talks the result of which could become visible at least till mid-March.
She said peace could come to Afghanistan if Pakistan stopped supporting the war and honestly cooperated with the peace process.
She said Wolesi Jirga members should also be invited to participate in the four-sided meeting in Pakistan.
MP Ahmad Behzad from western Herat province said resolving issues with Pakistan could provide the basis for reaching peace and stability. Until terrorists-producing factories were not stopped in Pakistan, the war in Afghanistan would continue, he said.
“The government is responsible to update lawmakers and the Afghan people about any step it takes for peace in the country,” he said, adding Afghanistan should also ask the US and China to put mount on terrorist groups and conduct joint operations against them.
