د کونړ ولايتي شورا: د خلکو د ستونزو د هواري لپاره مو هڅې پيل کړې دي

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): The provincial council head in eastern Kunar province on Monday said apart from establishing good rapport among people and provincial officials, they had achieved some targets in the past six months.
Din Mohammad Peelot, Kunar provincial council head, told Pajhwok Afghan News in an exclusive interview their main priority over the past six months was to resolve people’s problems.
“In the last few years, majority of people’s problems occurred due to distance between people and government. We tried to bridge the gap and bring them together,” he said.
In order to understand people’s problems, Peelot added, they have started public hearing gatherings in the provincial capital and other areas to become aware of people’s problems.
Such gatherings have been held in Khas-Kunar and Manogai districts and would continue in other districts as well.
Peelot said the provincial council also held meetings with districts’ development councils on monthly basis to discuss development and share their problems with authorities.
He added the provincial council has also started collecting yearly plans of all the local departments for evaluation, but added some departments that had shortcomings had not presented their plans.
“We regularly evaluate the performance of these departments to make sure that normal work is not interrupted,” he added.
“The provincial council has also started reconciliation process among people and tribes to tackle decade old differences among locals,” he continued.
According to Peelot, they have established good rapport among people, meeting them regularly and consulting on several issues. “The governor is the government’s representative and we are people’s representative.”
Kunar borders Pakistan and has troubled security situation. The provincial council, according to Peelot, holds regular meetings with security officials to ensure law and order in this remote province.
He said smuggling of wood from the province to Pakistan was still a serious issue but the people had promised them to prevent it. “People have promised us to work with us in preventing timber smuggling to Pakistan.”
Kunar provincial council has nine members, out of which two are females.
