Policemen among 8 dead in Sar-i-Pul firefight

SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok):  At least four militants and as may policemen were killed on Wednesday when rebels mounted attack on a police check post in northern Sar-i-Pul province, provincial police chief said.
Col. Noor Habib Gulbahari told Pajhwok Afghan News that police had started operation in different areas since last three days. Four insurgents also wounded in the gun battle, he added.
Asadullah Khuram, member of provincial council, said Makhdoom Basir, a local elder in Sancharak district, along with his son was killed in a combat with Taliban.  The militants stopped vehicles on main road and kidnapped 11 persons in Sancharak and Balkhab districts.
However, police did not confirm the kidnapping of people so far. 
Separately, Sayed Faiz Ullah Saadat, director of Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said a woman had been killed in a flood last night in Suzma Qila district.
