QALAT (Pajhwok): Tens of thousands of people exercised their voting right in southern Zabul province, where the electoral process ended satisfactory, officials said on Saturday.

Voting in the runoff presidential election formally began at 7:00am across the country and ended at 4:00pm.
At the end of the polling process, police chief Brig. Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rough Lewanai said the historic event had taken place on a peaceful note in Zabul.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News both sides suffered fatalities as rebels carried disruptive activities in different parts of the province. One Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier was killed and a second injured in Atghar and Arghandab districts.
Three insurgents were killed and some ammunitions seized by security personnel in Spini Ghbargai area on the outskirts of provincial capital and Arghandab district.
In addition, five civilians were killed and another wounded in two roadside bombings in Shinkai and Shahr-i-Safa districts on Friday evening.
A resident of the Norak area of Qalat told Pajhwok over the telephone that a woman had been killed in a shooting.
Meanwhile, Lewanai said several people were detained on charges of fraud in various parts of the province, but he gave no further details.
The election commission’s logistic department head, Nasibullah, said they had set up 47 polling centres in the province. There were no major incidents of rigging or security threats.
According to Nasibullah, initial information showed the number of voters was higher than the first round.
A resident of Qalat, Abdul Karim, said he had exercised his voting right along with his family members in a peaceful environment.
Another resident, Gul Mohammad, thanked security forces for taking tight measures on the Election Day.
