Ghani to narrow govt-people gap

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Saturday said he would narrow the gap between the government and the people if he won the April elections.
The former finance minister was addressing a campaign rally attended by the thousands in the Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province.
Ghani claimed moving a step closer to victory in the elections after his camp was joined by jihadi leaders and elders in Logar.
He said Logar residents had been promised several times a string of development and reconstruction projects, which had never been executed.
“We want an agriculturally and industrially developed Afghanistan, where peace prevails. I promise you I will remove the gap between the government, mosques and the people,” Ghani said.
Speaking on behalf of different tribes of Logar, Saifur Rahman Tariq said they would support Ahmadzai in the elections.
“Ahmadzai was born in Logar and he is known internationally for his good deeds. We promise to vote for him and elect him as our president.”
Wolesi Jirga member Mohammad Akbar Stanikzai also voiced his to support to Ahmadzai, saying the incumbent government had failed to honour its promises.
Ahmadzai was pledged support at a separate gathering that took place in the 12th district of Kabul City.
The Haji Nawroz Market owner, Haji Nawroz, said the gathering was attended by residents of various areas of the central Kabul province and was arranged by people associated with 114 councils.
